Use ONLY the first 5 digits of ZIP code. While 9 digits might migrate from external inputs, only 5 are needed for communication. Multiple duplicates are often cued off of this data, unlikely to be the primary identifier of a customer.

Hi Roger, thanks for the feedback! While matching zip codes are highlighted in the merge process, they have no impact on the match percentage, or the flagging of a customer as a possible duplicate. Are 9 digit zip codes causing any other issues?

Hi Jacob Coleman, while it might not count for the percentage, I'm merging many every day, and the only difference is a zip code of 12345 vs 12345-1234.

Roger Patterson: Oh, are you saying you're getting duplicates created that should have auto-merged except for the fact that the zip code didn't match?
