Replying to AI's thread with customer

As sales, I need to be able to reply to the same email thread if our AI assistant makes contact with the customer so that its not a new email thread every time one of us reaches out. If a customer asks a question and then I start a new email thread to answer that question, it seems very confusing and I seem to rarely get a response from an active customer once I try to reply on a new email thread.
