MARK UP BOX AS DISCOUNT CALCULATOR
Cameron Hendewerk
The “Mark Up” box when desking a deal generally shows the difference between the vehicle’s selling price and its cost. Essentially, it reflects the front-end (FE) gross on the vehicle before anything else is factored in through the boxes below.
Unfortunately, we end up selling vehicles at a front-end loss on a regular basis. I would like the ability to enter a negative number in the “Mark Up” box and have the system automatically calculate the corresponding discount in the box above it.
Currently, you can enter a positive markup, but you cannot enter a negative one to achieve the same result. For example, if I want to target
-$1,000 in FE gross
, I would like to be able to enter -$1,000 in the “Mark Up” box and have the system automatically calculate the necessary discount to reach that target. This would make desking deals more efficient and allow us to work backward from a desired FE gross rather than manually calculating the discount needed.

Thanks for writing this up, Cameron Hendewerk — super helpful context. Totally hear you on how much time it saves to work backward from a target FE gross. I’m sharing this with the team for review, and if we need any additional details (like a quick example deal scenario), I’ll follow up.

Shelby Parker Thank you for the quick response Shelby! We just started using DC (I was using Eleads the last 15 years) and I am beyond impressed with the system overall and I am VERY impressed with the support team.
