Locking customer profile

When a person is viewing a customer profile, there should be a way to lock all of the other users out of that profile.

Thanks for raising this, Sheila Gallegos — totally get why a “lock” could help avoid collisions when multiple people are in the same customer record. To make sure we’re solving the right problem, could you share a bit more about (1) when you’d need to lock a profile and what goes wrong today without it (editing details, working a deal, logging comms, etc.)? (2) In your ideal setup, should other users be blocked from viewing entirely, or just prevented from making changes while it’s locked? And (3) how should the lock clear — automatically when you leave/after inactivity, or only manually — and what should happen if someone forgets to release it?

Shelby Parker perfect example would be me sending a text reply at the same time as a manager, or even a manager sending an email while I am actively on a call or sending a text message to that client. When I was in accounting a pop-up would appear letting me know someone was viewing or editing the file (LOCKED BY _USERNAME) editing would be impossible until the other user backed out of the file. You would still be able to view the file, just not add or edit information until the main user backed out of the file. File would unlock as soon as the 1st user "leaves" the file. If someone forgets to close the customer profile I would think after a certain amount of in-activity it would un-lock. That might happen automatically with the re-fresh you have programed into Drive right now.
