Import Lists Feature
planned
Jonathan Schultz
We need a way to bring in customer lists from Excel or CSV files without manually entering each record. This is especially useful when we get lists from third-party vendors or want to upload prospects for a campaign.
The ideal solution would let us:
- Upload an Excel or CSV file and map columns to customer fields (name, phone, email, address, vehicle VIN, mileage, etc.)
- Choose how to handle duplicates: skip them, tag them only, or tag and update their info
- See a results report showing what was created, updated, or ignored
- Apply tags to every record in the import for easy segmentation, follow-up, and redistribution
This would save significant time for stores running campaigns or onboarding lists from outside sources, and keep our customer data accurate without creating unnecessary deal records.

Drew Adler Is there a timeline when this might be implemented? I mean, I realize there's programming, testing, etc., that needs to be done. There is probably a timeline, though.

Chandler Bainter Hey Chandler - we've made significant progress on the feature already, and are targeting the end of June for rollout to all applicable dealers!

I want to be able to upload a CSV file of names, email addresses and phone numbers into DC w/o typing them in manually... There has to be a better way in this day and age..

Thanks for sharing this, Jenn Joyce — totally hear you on not wanting to manually type in a bunch of new customer records. This is really helpful feedback, and I’m looping it into our team’s review so we can evaluate the best way to support CSV uploads. If you’re open to it, a quick example of the columns/format you’d want (names, email, phone, etc.) would help us make sure we’re solving the right problem.

I would like this as well. We had a contest give away and had many people opt in for wanting to be contacted showing interest for a new vehicle. If we had this feature it would make loading so much easier. I have a few hundred to enter. It should have all the basic information (First name, Last name, Phone number, Email, and the event for when being contacted) as well as the ability to assign a sales consultant in the spreadsheet for faster imports. We used Excel files when we did ours.

Thanks for reaching out, Anthony Perugini — this is really helpful context. Importing a list of ~400 customers via Excel/CSV would definitely make that email-blast workflow a lot smoother. I’m sharing this with the team for review, and if you’re open to a quick follow-up: what columns do you have in your file (name, email, tags, etc.), and do you need to map any custom fields on import?

Currently I have ability to down load data sets from a marketing supplier for clients in EXCEL formats. IE clients who haven't been in for service in x # of days, or clients who purchased but never returned for service, ETC. I would be great to be able to upload the list in EXCEL into Drive centric to be able to market the list specifically for parameters that are not defined in the filter presets in drive centric.

This is still a critical problem.
There are ways to bypass the list upload block and add customers as a series of campaign leads, but then you blow up the sidewall lead tracker.
It's complete insanity that we have to use a completely separate tool in order to be able to send email blasts to customers after downloading the mandated lists from the OEM. It's a complete joke.
