Clearing duplicate leads

We recently went live with click to call, which has been great to make sure activities are actually being completed. I am running into an issue with duplicate leads coming in and not being able to clear them. Before click to call I would select call - other result was done. Now with Click to call I cannot. We have to call, email, or text. Sometimes this makes zero sense to do especially when there is constant communication going on with the customer and sales/bdc. Calling, texting or emailing to just clear the lead is silly and makes us look bad. I was told that mixed click to call could be turned on which would be great but I do not want this on for everyone because I will have people go back to the normal way of faking calls and never using the click to call. There needs to be a way to turn on mixed click to call to only certain users and/or permission groups. There has to be a better way to clear duplicate leads without call/text/email when those activities make no sense. We just received a lead from a customer who has sent 8 leads in and there is no need for a new touchpoint.

Thanks for posting this, Matthew Kellar — totally hear you on how awkward it is to have to call/text/email just to clear out duplicate leads, especially when you’re already in active communication. This is really helpful context (and the mixed click-to-call / permissions angle makes a lot of sense). I’m sharing this with the team for review, and we’ll follow up if we need a couple more specifics from your setup to make sure we’re looking at the right fix.

Shelby Parker Thank you. With the click to call, I was clicking call and then immediately hanging the phone up with the hopes i could do it quick enough before the call was sent outbound to the customer / customer picked up. Today while doing that to clear a dup I had a customer answer promptly and I ended up accidently hanging up on them. So this is not a good work around. Being able to assign mixed click to call to only specific users would be a great work around.
