Aged Inventory Substitute

When desking a deal or building a customer profile and adding the vehicle of interest, have the inventory scrubbed to make sure there isn't an identical unit that has been in stock longer. The point would be to always sell the oldest inventory first. This gets missed and will be easier to miss as inventories are growing bigger than they've been in years. There should be multiple layers of notifications so that the sales associate doesn't ignore the alert out of laziness. Another alert should be present when first desking the deal to get the sales manager's attention. There may be something unique about that unit like wheels/tires or any other aftermarket add ons that would make it different than another unit with an identical window sticker/invoice and then the alert can and should be ignored. Once the deal has been made and is being pushed to DMS there should be a final alert to make sure we don't want to sell the older unit and maybe show how long both have been in stock. The goal is to turn all inventory as quickly as possible and not let anything age past a certain point. This could be an immensely helpful feature when it comes to inventory management.

Hello Rick Deppen! I have a few more questions for you:
- Can you provide more details on what you consider as 'identical units'? Is it based on make, model, year, color, or any other specific features?
- What is the 'certain point' beyond which you believe inventory should not age? Is it a specific time period or does it depend on other factors?
- Could you elaborate on the 'multiple layers of notifications' you mentioned? How would you like these notifications to be prioritized or escalated?

- An identical unit would be 2 or more vehicles being build the same way...same trim, color, packages, MSRP.
- Our specific goal is to not let any vehicle sit on our lot past 90 days. If this is a feature that can be implemented, it wouldn't matter if the alarm went off to sell a unit that has been here 23 days instead of the initial stock number selected that has only been here 5. The point is to always sell the older unit first if there are duplicates.
- Multiple layers would be an alert sent to the salesperson as soon as they add a vehicle of interest into a customer's profile. I believe that if this suggests they go get another set of keys and pull up a different vehicle to show, it won't happen because they would feel like they're wasting time. the second alert would be to the sales manager when they first start to desk the deal and a final alert when the deal is being pushed to DMS to make sure we don't want to switch to the older unit. A pop up window that has to be selcted yes or no in order to move forward.
